So it’s September.
September is the beginning of fall and all those beloved fall activities. Back to school, the very beginning of the holiday season, harvest and the change in the weather. It’s like you can feel the Earth tilting towards winter. But this year, the Earth seemed to tilt in the spring in a different direction and we all felt it. That tilt made everything different.
Different has many meanings. For me in the beginning I watched my bustling and exciting business – you know, the one where I get to hang out with you outside in the desert sunshine surrounded by people, enveloped in the colors and textures of art and the smells of mobile food – suddenly stop. And for a while I couldn’t fathom where this might lead me. Or any of us. But then you showed up – in my inbox, on my website, Facebook and Instagram and you gave me so much inspiration!
I let that inspiration go free and it soared! I decided to embrace this new world and turn it to my advantage. Quarantine became endless days of creating. Isolation became my buffer from the world and I created a bubble to work within. A bubble that filtered out all the negativity so I could continue to create happy art. And it worked beautifully.
What did that inspiration produce?
I debated a lot with myself – because it was just me and I in my quarantine bubble – about what I should create. I had many requests for COVID related art and as much as I hate to disappoint, I decided it didn’t fit. Everyone’s situation in this is unique. For some it has been a challenge on a level we’ve never encountered before. For some, it’s just been a bump in the road with all levels in between.
And for that reason, I didn’t want to focus on a specific level, I just wanted to create happy art for all the degrees of difference we’re facing. So you will not see any reference to these last few months in the upcoming new release. I end-gamed it to where life is ok again.
I hope that despite all we’ve faced through this that you have also found your own quarantine bubble. I hope you found a new love, a new hobby, a new outlook. Things are still tentative, postponed and cancelled but there is light shining through. I can’t wait to see you out in the desert sunshine again but until it’s determined when – I can’t wait for you to see The Sunshine Collection on September 18th!
What’s coming up this month?
